London Trip

One of my uni friends, Kasim, is currently working in London, and when he told me that he'd been living there for a couple of months and hadn't yet done anything touristy, we organised a day for me to visit so I could fix that. Over the last few years, I've gotten pretty good at finding my favourite places in London, and discovering new ones. We covered the Tate museum, embankment views of the London Eye and Houses of Parliment and St James' Park. Mostly it was just super lovely to catch up while we walked around!

I'm already planning another visit for next month- I've never been to the Natural History Museum, so maybe we'll give that a go! Kasim still hasn't tried a shake shack milkshake yet, so that's another one of our priorities.

What do you love to do in London?

June Lips

top-bottom
Lush popcorn lip scrub • Korres jasmine lip butter • Lush the kiss

l-r
Clinique chubby stick baby tint poppin' poppy • Clinique flirty honey • MAC cremesheen peach blossom • Avon provocative plum
l-r
The Body Shop colour crush 115 • Rimmel lasting finish by Kate 107 • MAC satin captive • Rimmel apocalips celestial

Recently I was having a sort out of all my beauty products, and I realised how few of my lipsticks and other lip products I actually wear. Even though I'll wear something most days, I would always reach for the same colours over and over. In an effort to wear other colours, that I love just as much but frequently forget about, I'm going to try and sort through my lip products more often, and have fewer to hand on my dresser so I try some new options!

This months picks are covering all of the bases, from nude and sheer to super matte and dark. I love matte or dryer formulas a lot more, so I've been trying out some creamer formulas that I would normally ignore. My most reached for products so far have been the Korres jasmine lip butter (which smells absolutely heavenly) and MAC peach blossom.

Would you like to see my next switch up in a post?!

Roots

Roots cafe Norwich

Earlier this week I went shopping with my friend Charlotte, and after looking around half the cafe's in Norwich, we decided to try Roots. I hadn't ever been before, so I was super excited to try somewhere new (and so I could check something off my 9 things). We both had a falafel salad, and I also had a soya latte. The food was absolutely amazing, especially the dressing on the salad, and my soya latte was perfect. I'm not sure what coffee blend they use but I'm 100% going back to have more!

The cakes also looked amazing but we decided to be healthy for once... and go back for it another day. There were so many other things on the menu that I really want to try so I can't wait to go back! I'm especially looking forward to trying the 'super awesome hot chocolate' when autumn gets here.

Have you tried anywhere new recently?!

Currently Reading: Big Magic

I love nothing more than cosy blankets, night time tea and a book. Unless you throw in a Lush-themed bath before all that. Then I'm in heaven. If the book is really good, I've been known to climb into bed as early as 8pm, so I can get in a solid few hours reading without being ridiculously sleep deprived the next day.

Currently I'm reading Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert, and I'm totally hooked. I've been in a creative rut for what feels like forever, and this is really inspiring me to just sit down and get on with writing. The irony of studying Creative Writing at uni is that it's left me completely creatively drained, and I'm only just getting motivation back. If you're stuck in any kind of rut, creative or otherwise, I 100% recommend this. It's helped me tackle and have a firm word with my fear of failure, and I'm not even 100 pages in.

What have you been reading recently?

Top 3 Blushers

l-r swatches: Rimmel, MAC, Benefit

MAC melba £18.50
Benefit dandelion £23.50
Rimmel Stay Blushed £4.49

Every now and then I'll suddenly fall back in love with blusher after a while of not wearing any. I'm really loving these three at the moment, and that probably has something to do with recently buying one of them- Benefit dandelion. It's the lightest of the three, but it can build up just as easily to give a really pinky-pink ballerina colour. It is described as a 'brightening face powder' with a little shimmer, so it can actually be used over your whole face, but I haven't tried that out yet!

My next favourite is MAC melba (full review), which I definitely go through phases of using. It's a matte coral peach, and it can look a little terrifying if you apply too much- the swatch was the lightest amount I had to apply. I normally fix that by going back over with my powder brush, but if you love a pigmented blusher then this is 100% worth a look at.

The last favourite is a bit different, though Rimmel Stay Blushed in pop of pink is probably the closest to the one I have from the Wake Me Up range. It has more of a sparkle than the other two, and because it's a liquid it took me a few tries to get it to look natural. I love this just by itself, well blended in.

What's your favourite blusher?! I'm not very adventurous with blusher so I'd love to hear more options!

Hersonissos, Greece

In case you hadn't guessed from some of my recent posts, I went on holiday! It was very last minute, as well as being my first proper holiday with Jay. We had the most amazing time together, especially since we don't get a lot of time with just the two of us at the moment.

When I went to Italy, I uploaded loads of photos, but this time I decided to leave a lot of our photos offline. I posted quite a few on instagram, but I'm leaving it at that for now. For me it's important sometimes to take a step back and just appreciate the moment, rather than be too focused on sharing it all over social media.

If you're looking at going to Crete, I would definitely recommend where we went! We stayed in Hersonissos in a hotel that was super close to the sea, and it was really easy to find places to go from there. We went at the end of May, and it was about 27 degrees most days which is perfect for me! Much hotter and I begin to melt into puddles.

I hope you're having a lovely summer, holiday or not!

9 Things: June

Each month (or at least each season), I want to try and set myself some goals, some that are new to me or some that just push me out of my comfort zone a little bit because they're things that I keep saying I'll do... and never do. So I've come up with 9 things to do in June.

1. Pick fresh stawberries
2. Have brunch outside
3. Go for a early morning run
4. Buy fresh flowers from the market
5. Discover a new coffee shop
6. Try a new ice cream flavour
7. Carry a book and read everywhere possible
8. Visit a farmers market
9. Take a bike ride

Are you doing anything exciting in the next month?!
