Empties #6

It's been forever since I've posted an empties, so over the last few weeks I've been keeping hold of what I've been using up! I've used up more than normal recently, because I'm in one of those 'you can't buy any more until you've used what you've got' phases.
I've loved all three mascaras I've finished, but The Body Shop Big and Curvy mascara is definitely my favourite. It applies really evenly, and layers without clumping horribly. I'll always repuchase this one! I'm also sad to see my Rimmel Scandaleyes Jumbo liner (review) dry out- it's so easy to get a perfect cat eye with this bad boy.
Dry shampoo wise, I used to love this Bastiste blush scent, but now I find it way too sickly sweet, and I'm loving the Collab Paris scent more and more instead! I have to use a shaving gel, unless I want the most painful rash known to man, and I did love this Avon gel I rummaged out from the bathroom. A definite alternative I might keep laying around!
I love a good moisturise all over, so these were three of my favourite empties. This was my third repurchase of the No7 Daily Moisturiser for normal/dry skin, I love it! It leaves my skin feeling fabulous. I'm also a big fan of the Soap & Glory Heel Genius, as I spend a lot of time on my feet right now. Not only does this make them softer, but it's also cooling.
I was really sad to see the end of this St. Ives Blemish Control apricot scrub, because I really saw a difference in my skin when I was using it. The other product that really made a difference in my skin was the Origins Clear Improvement charcoal face mask. You know when you take off a face mask and you just feel new born, because that's what this is for me. If you haven't tried it, I'd so recommend it!

I hope you liked this post!

What products have you finished recently?

Life lately #16

Life is currently a bit hectic. Don't you love it when that happens?

Last week I half moved out of uni to start a new job back at home, and this week I'm going back up to fully move out of student life and move back to the not-so-independent at home life (sob). I'm also clearing out my room at home, because there's absolutely no room to keep all the bits I'm moving back, while also being totally exhausted from my job- which I love, but my feet do not. Add in the fact that next week is also the last time I see my boyfriend before he leaves for America for 3 months, and the fact that I also dropped my phone in a mug of ribena the other day (that old bag of rice trick didn't work for me and gave me a nice £60 to pay for a replacement), means that I literally don't know what way is up right now.

On the plus side, I don't have to pay for food shopping anymore. I'll take whatever wins I can get.

Here's to a less frantic summer from now... or at least soon, please.

Review | MAC Twig

Twig £15.50
Soft muted brownish-pink (satin)

When I picked this up last month, it was literally love at first sight. I chose it because I wanted something just a little bit darker and something more there than peach blossom. It's also my first satin formula, which is now 100% my favourite. It's matte, but not drying, and doesn't totally disappear when I've eaten. I think the shade also goes really well with my pale skin (if I do say so myself), and I've literally been wearing it non-stop and gotten so many compliments! I can imagine this being a perfect shade especially in autumn. MAC, you've won me over again.

The other colours:

What's your favourite MAC lipstick? I'm starting quite a collection.

Naked 3 palette re-loving

Urban Decay Naked 3 palette £38

As much as I love my Naked palette, sometimes I kind of forget I have it. I'm not always in an eye shadow mood, but when I am, I really am. So when I do rummage it out, I fall back in love with it every time. For me, it's the perfect mix of shimmer and matte (I'm more of a glitter girl at heart when it comes to eye shadow). My current favourites are Dust, a beautiful light shimmery pink, Mugshot, a golden/brown shimmer, and Burnout, a rose gold that's a bit less sparkly than the other two.

I've been thinking about treating myself to the Naked Basics palette to balance up the matte shades.. any recommendations?!

Review | Rimmel Match Perfection

£6.99

I can very safely claim this to be the foundation that has turned me into an every day foundation wearer. Since I've started wearing foundation, I've been looking for one that isn't too heavy a coverage, matches my skin tone and has a dewy (but not too dewy) finish. Ladies and gentlemen, I present the winner. For now, anyway. I picked up this Rimmel Match Perfection in a spur of the moment spree in Boots (what else is there really) in the shade 100 Ivory. Rimmel is the only high street brand that matches my pale skin, and I'd read some good reviews about this.

It's a really light, but buildable, coverage, and has quite a dewy finish that leaves my skin looking healthy. It matches my skin tone really well, and mostly covers up redness and blemishes without looking too 'I'm wearing foundation today'. It does get a little greasy around my nose after a few hours, but most things do there, and otherwise it lasts for the day.

For a high street foundation that I didn't expect to like much, I love this! I'd definitely recommend it, and it's super good value for me- I only use about a pump to cover my whole face so I've been using it a month and barely made a dent in it.

Have you tried this out? Do you think you will if not?!

Bedroom inspirtation

above images from all Pinterest on my bedroom board

I'm moving back in with my parents for the summer, maybe longer, and I've been trying to convince them that they want to let me re-decorate my old bedroom. Once I'm fully moved out, it's probably becoming a guest room, so I'm playing the 'but if I do it now you won't have to later' card. Plus it's not been re-decorated since I was in high school, so I think it's due a bit of a change. Consequently I've been perusing the likes of Pinterest for hours, and racking up quite a shopping list.

Here's some of my current top picks...

Lush May Day bath bomb

I always try and support the Lush charities, particularly when they've got the odd bath bomb floating around. You get a double whammy of a relaxing bath and feeling good for supporting a charity, after all. But this one really caught my attention, because animal rights is really important to me.

Buying the May Day bath bomb gives money towards the three charities involved in the Votes for Animals campaign, that is aimed towards trying to raise awareness towards parties stances on animals in the upcoming election:
• Animal Aid
• The League Against Cruel Sports
• Save Me

Plus it actually smells really nice, and isn't a bubbly bomb if you're not one for bubbles (and if you are you could definitely just mix it with another bath bomb). I found it really relaxing, and I'm definitely going back to get another few of these! Plus it's got a super cute badger face on it, so it's just perfect.
"With fennel oil to stimulate your skin, and antiseptic rosewood oil to soothe and uplift. Its sweet, sherbety fragrance will leave you feeling calm and revived."

Have you tried this yet?!

Review | Soap & Glory Supercat eyeliner

I picked this eyeliner up because I'm a bit addicted to eyeliner recently, and I'd read some good reviews for this. I've mostly gone for eyeliner pens that are a bit thicker in the past, so I wasn't sure how well I'd get on with this!

I'm a fan of the packaging, though a few times I've noticed I don't push the cap properly back on. It can also be a bit hard to get the cap off if you've going moisturiser all over your hands! The main thing that I love about this liner is that it's super black, rather than a black/grey. Quite a few liquid liners that I've tried in the past start out great, but after a while really start to fade. I've been using this a few months now and it's definitely 100% black still! It's also really long lasting, and I've never had it smudge or transfer through the day.

I've found that the thinner nib actually makes cat eye flicks so easy, and since I've been using this my eyeliner application time is so much shorter. It's controlled enough to make correction really easy, and it also makes it really easy to get right up to your lash line. Overall I'd definitely really recommend this! I might do a re-visit review of this when it's empty, let me know in the comments if you'd be interested!

What's your favourite eyeliner? Any recommendations are always welcome!
